About the Storyteller
Name?
My full name is Maryana Goco Garcia. My family call me Rya (pronounced like Ryan but without the “n”).
Who am I?
At the moment, I am a youngish person of eager talent. By, “talent,” I mean that I have bits of (very) varied information, and memories from odd-job experience floating around in a semi-structured brain.
I have an opinion on everything from the best Top Gear episode (Season 4, Episode 3), to the most relevant Shakespeare play for 2020 (The Tempest).
I am a little too earnest, and naive for my own good. I lean towards obsession, can’t multitask, and appreciate good symmetry.
Other talents include, poetry, cooking, and the ability to dabble.
Most importantly, I love to write, even on the days when I am not great at it.
What do I do?
At the moment, I am a student at Wintec School of Media Arts.
The current learning goal is to bridge the disconnect between my writing, and what I am made of.
Basically, I’m trying to write as myself. It’s harder than it sounds.
Why do I do what I do?
Firstly, because I tried other stuff and it didn’t work out so well.
Mostly, I do what I do because I believe that every person is a destination, and that the only way to reach that destination is by sharing stories.
Really, I mean that. I’m not just saying it for the social media graphic I need to generate for this blog post.
The Dream?
That someone will give me a full-time writing gig because they read this blog (and the rest of my portfolio).
